Mrs. DeRoos

Hello My Name Is...

Mrs. DeRoos

I am the Intervention Specialist and SST/504 Coordinator for our school. I have a Bachelor of Science in Educational Studies from Grand Canyon University. I am currently working toward my Master's of Education in Special Education and Applied Behavior Analysis through Saint Joseph's University.

I have had the privilege of working for the San Joaquin County Office of Education in their Educational Services department and Charter School for 10 years.

I believe that students need a thorough understanding of the structure of language, strategic thinking, and vocabulary to learn to be critical and efficient readers and writers. As an Intervention Specialist, I work with students who are not meeting grade-level benchmarks. The purpose of intervention is to improve students' reading by helping increase their decoding, fluency, comprehension or vocabulary.

I also work with teachers to implement positive behavioral interventions and supports into their classrooms, which improves social, emotional and academic outcomes for all students.

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, taking trips to the beach, hiking, reading, and watching sporting events--I especially love college basketball. I am also a certified health coach and enjoy helping women create healthy lifestyles through nutrition and fitness.

I am looking forward to meeting and collaborating with parents to make this a joyful and successful school year.
