6th - Mrs. Hambleton

  Mrs. Christina Hambleton

My name is Christina (Christy) Hambleton. Prior to teaching, I worked as a Finance Manager at several Silicon Valley tech companies and internet start-ups. After the birth of my wonderful son, I decided to take some time off from my career and focus my attention on raising my baby.

My interest in becoming an educator was sparked while volunteering at my son’s preschool. The volunteering transcended into an EL Para-Professional position at my son’s elementary school. I quickly realized my passion for teaching and returned to college to obtain my teaching credential at Grand Canyon University; where I graduated Magna Cum Laude.

I believe that all students deserve a chance to excel; regardless of any obstacles. I believe that all students can succeed when provided with a nurturing, encouraging, and challenging environment. I believe the building of a solid relationship between student and teacher is key to their academic success.

I have worked several years as a middle school teacher at a local charter school in Tracy. I absolutely love working with this age group! I admire their humor, wit, and endless inquisitive nature. As I move on, I am very excited to begin a new adventure at the Next Generation STEAM Academy as your new Sixth Grade teacher!

Like the wonderful children I get to work with each day, I am continuing my own education. I am currently enrolled at the Teacher’s College of San Joaquin STEM Master’s Degree Program, with an added authorization in Mathematics. I am qualified to teach single-subject Math for grades K- Algebra 1. The STEM program has awakened me to the wonderful benefits of project based learning and I cannot wait to apply my knowledge in my new class environment. I am ready to burst I have so many ideas for the kids!

Outside of the classroom, my husband, son and I are avid travelers. We love the outdoors and rarely miss a chance for a hike under the redwoods, a day at the ocean, or a stroll around Japan Town in San Francisco. I enjoy cooking, reading, and my pets. I also love to create photo books and capture the precious memories of our family, our friends, and my daily experiences and adventures with my students. I love to experience what life has to offer and I hope to nurture this same attitude in my students.

I am truly looking forward to a prosperous, exciting, and engaging year with my new students, their parents, and with my new colleagues at the Next Generation STEAM Academy!
