Hello My Name Is...

Sarah Pacheco

Hello! My name is Sarah Pacheco, and I am a first grade teacher. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I am participating in the Impact internship program from the Teachers College of San Joaquin. In addition, I have been a teacher, mentor, and coordinator for  individuals from ages one to twenty-five within the respective departments of my local church since 2008. The experience I have had with children led me to become a Youth Development Professional at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tracy, where I worked with grades first, second, and eight for over two years.

My involvement with children has been geared toward the empowerment and self-actualization of individuals of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and abilities. I have a strong passion to educate young minds and help them blossom into confident, well-rounded, altruistic, responsible, and successful individuals. As a result, I have been able to design creative, meaningful, and stimulating lesson plans, which accommodate multiple intelligences, bring a hands-on and collaborative approach to learning, and keep students interested and focused.

I actively engage their eager minds by using a variety of manipulatives, enjoyable activities, and cooperative learning projects. Also, I tailor lessons plans to meet their diverse interests, as well as demonstrate direct connections between the “classroom” and everyday life. Moreover, I take the time to know who they are as a person by putting aside time to hear their “voice”. Furthermore, I stay connected with parents on a regular basis to promote participation, reinforce the growth process at home, and boost children’s confident of the support they have from their advocates.

My favorite colors are teal, turquoise, gold, black, white and salmon. I love reading, singing (so there’ll be music ringing in our room!), playing different kinds of sports, volunteering in my local church, being silly, especially when things get tough, and laughing!

I am looking forward to a great year with the NextGeneration STEAM Academy family!
